I know more and more people are advertising coffee enemas on the web as, after all, it has been done for very long time. Max Gerson advocated its use in his clinics combined with juicing and diets way back in the 30s. After his death in 1959, his daughter Charlotte who continued his pioneering work opened his famous Gerson institute in 1977 in Mexico and recently the Gerson institute in Hungary in 2009, where his healing therapies are still used today. Treating a host of immune and digestive related disorders. Accompanied by at least 13 fresh carrot juices and supplements prepared daily. People travel there from all over the world mostly for cancer treatment. Many of my teachers such as Dr Bernard Jensen were strong Pioneers of these protocols.
Dr. Bernard Jensen, D.C., the father of colonics, stated once that “Death Begins in the Colon”. According to him, about 85% of people suffer from impaired digestion and elimination. The long term impact of colonic obstructions results in the accumulation of toxins, poor absorption of nutrients and a progressively weakened immune system. Dr. Jensen in his classic, ‘Tissue Cleansing Through Bowel Management,’ says: “…the famous beauty queen whom I knew, Mae West, was a great believer in the benefits of the enema.” She started every day with a morning enema. She was a strong and beautiful woman and stayed that way well into old age.
Naturopaths often prescribe home treatments with a special enema kit, for particular health problems. However if your professional enema treatment is part of an overall 45 min. colonic and just used for a couple of minutes the effects are hardly noted. You may also like to inquire what type of coffee is used. I’ve heard some people actually use Nescafé. Not so good! Never cut corners!! The coffee we use is the finest raw coffee, which if prepared correctly becomes a green coloured, and you could say, mucilaginous substance. Quite soothing in fact. Not at all what you would expect coffee to be like. As coffee is actually an acid substance when roasted.
Ok, cleared that up.
So when the coffee enema, say about 700ml, is taken after the hour colonic. And all the rubbish and Gas have been removed, using the various specific organic herbs during the main session, in the 50 minutes before this time. You will spend 5 minutes in the bathroom making sure you are quite clear. Then in the next half hour, we introduce the freshly, early morning prepared coffee at body temperature. Apart from the marvelous effects the chemical elements of the coffee has on detoxifying the liver. It helps to open the bile duct from the liver and gall bladder and thereby allows for more bile to pass to the duodenum. Where the bile will be busily dissolving stuck sludge. The physical element of the coffee which is sitting in your bowel for a good 10 to 15 minutes helps to soothe and dissolve more debris and gas. Sometimes, in fact most of the time on my table, one experiences a great flush at the end when the coffee is washed out as well. Despite the large intestine being quite clean at that stage. This is usually is a mix of ‘fatty sludge’ dissolved by bile and the chemical effect of the coffee. One of the many reasons why people feel so clean and energised. The fatty sludge can sit comfortably in the duodenum, is usually quite sticky, and slows down your absorption of nutrients and also contributes to leaky gut. Shows up as fat around the middle.
