The garlic enema colonic — known to clients as ‘the Grand Finale’ — is Marijke Vogel’s signature treatment at Phenomenal Colonics. Added at the end of a standard herbal colonic session, it harnesses one of nature’s most powerful antimicrobial herbs to deliver a deeper, more thorough cleanse. Here is the story behind it. Whether you’ve searched for “garlic enema” or arrived here via “garlic enima”, Marijke’s Grand Finale treatment is what you’re looking for.

Why do I like to talk so much “garb”, Garlic.
Exactly, garlic removes deeply embedded garbage.
Medicinal use of garlic goes back to biblical times. A brief look at its use in History.
- The Egyptians used garlic to give strength and nourishment to the slaves constructing their pyramids.
- The Romans gave garlic to their labourers as they noticed it made them work harder and longer. Roman soldiers believed garlic inspired courage, they dedicated the plant to Mars, the God of War.
- Japanese healers have used garlic as a folk medicine for centuries, particularly for gastrointestinal ailments.
- During World War I, field medics widely used garlic as an antiseptic.
- Russian hospital physicians called it natural penicillin. Due to its anthelmintic properties and action it is most effective for the treatment of round and pinworms.
We are considering the effect of garlic for our purpose here. More info will be available in my new book coming soon…
Marijke offers the Garlic Enema as an optional extra at the end of your session. Here’s how it works:
- During the end of the colonic session, Marijke dilutes garlic juice with filtered warm water.
- She then slowly introduces it into the colon via the enema bucket.
- The Garlic juice has the ability to shoot to the other end of the bowel like a bullet.
- It will dissolve the bits of left over debris and mucous and sometimes parasites.
- It is also a very good herbal to help reduce candida.
- Most people feel fantastic and quite exhilarated afterwards.
Garlic Enema Recipe: How Marijke Prepares It
Marijke’s garlic Grand Finale is not a DIY treatment — it is prepared and administered by a qualified practitioner as part of a colonic session. Here is how she prepares it:
- Fresh garlic is juiced or steeped to produce a concentrated garlic preparation.
- The garlic preparation is carefully diluted with warm, filtered water to a safe therapeutic concentration.
- At the end of the colonic session, once the main cleanse is complete, the diluted solution is introduced slowly into the lower colon via an enema bucket.
- The garlic solution is retained briefly before being released, completing the session.
Note: Marijke does not advise attempting a garlic enema at home. The preparation, concentration, and administration require clinical training and proper equipment.
Why Garlic Works So Well
It has many benefits:
- Garlic has a long list of multiple therapeutic effects due to their constituents, one of which is their volatile essential oil – Allicin.
- For the GI tract it is a stimulant for the digestive system, as well as encouraging the growth of beneficial flora.
- Its carminative value quickly dispels and balances fermentation and Gas. This will help expel any leftover debris, mucous, traces of candida and if there is any chance of parasites present they will soon leave.
- Most people feel fantastic and re-energised; they have reduced sugar cravings and are naturally inspired to eat more suitable and healthy foods. People with severe candida are inspired to continue to have garlic enemas in the privacy of their home.
- The British Garlic Growers Association and various herbal medicine bodies continue to recognise garlic’s therapeutic properties today.
Wishing you a Happy and Healthy Colon!
Garlic Enema — Frequently Asked Questions
Garlic is a natural antimicrobial herb with well-documented properties that support gut health. In a colonic context, a garlic enema — Marijke’s signature “Grand Finale” — targets unfriendly bacteria and parasites in the lower bowel, support the gut’s natural microbial balance, and leave clients feeling thoroughly cleansed. Many clients also report reduced bloating and improved digestive comfort following the treatment. As with all aspects of colon hydrotherapy, results vary between individuals.
When administered by a qualified, ARCH-accredited hydrotherapist, a garlic enema is considered safe for most healthy adults. Marijke uses a carefully diluted, food-grade garlic preparation — not raw garlic — which minimises irritation to the bowel lining. It is not suitable for people with a garlic allergy, inflammatory bowel conditions such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, or those who are pregnant. If you have any health concerns, please consult your GP before booking.
Garlic Enema Safety & Preparation
Preparation follows the same guidelines as a standard colonic: eat lightly for 24 hours beforehand, avoid heavy meals, alcohol, and fizzy drinks on the day, and arrive well hydrated. Marijke will discuss your health history at the start of your session and confirm whether the garlic Grand Finale is appropriate for you on the day.
A standard colonic irrigation uses warm, filtered water to gently cleanse the colon. Marijke’s garlic Grand Finale adds a small infusion of diluted garlic preparation during the final phase of the session, targeting the lower bowel specifically. Marijke offers it as an enhancement to the colonic, not a standalone treatment.
No. A professionally administered garlic enema during a colonic session is very different from a home enema kit. Marijke uses clinical-grade equipment, carefully controlled preparation, and over 25 years of experience to ensure the treatment is safe and effective. Home enemas carry risks including infection, electrolyte imbalance, and bowel injury if performed incorrectly. Marijke does not advise home administration.
